AFEGA examines ageing across biology, health, personal experience and the practical development of longevity-related products. We identify what is established, plausible, experimental and still genuinely open.

A deliberately wide view of longevity.

Biology of ageing

We follow research into cellular and molecular processes associated with ageing. Mechanisms, biomarkers and experimental models are interpreted with a clear distinction between biological interest and demonstrated benefit in humans.

Healthspan, function and independence

Living longer and living longer in good health are related but different aims. We examine population measures alongside the personal dimensions of function, independence, agency and quality of life.

Substances and longevity interventions

We evaluate substances and interventions discussed in longevity research or practice, including chemistry, mechanisms, pharmacokinetics, preclinical research, human studies, safety, dosage context and regulatory status.

Scientific orientation and knowledge architecture

The AFEGA Scientific Knowledge System organises findings, assessments, sources, uncertainties and updates. Public pages are derived from reviewed knowledge; they are not substitutes for the underlying scientific work.

Product development and quality

Research can inform the selection of substances, formulations and quality priorities. Product development has practical and commercial aims. Scientific assessment remains recognisable as a separate activity.

Psychology of a long life

A longer life is not only a biological project. We address development and rigidity, identity and change, transitions and loss, meaning, finitude and secular spirituality while keeping different forms of communication distinct.

How the library works

Two perspectives, kept distinct.

The AFEGA substance library is designed as a growing public knowledge resource. Each profile is developed from reviewed source material and helps readers understand different kinds of claims without confusing them.

Reported use, traditions and experience

We describe how a substance has been used, understood or discussed in traditional, complementary, experiential or minority scientific contexts. These accounts are presented fairly and in their own logic, without implying that they are thereby established as scientific fact.

What does the science say?

The scientific section examines mechanisms, preclinical findings, human evidence, counterevidence, safety and unresolved questions. It states the present degree of support without turning a lack of confirmation into a claim of worthlessness — or a lack of disproof into evidence of effectiveness.

We do not confuse openness with evidence — and we do not confuse a lack of evidence with a lack of value.

English publication status

Built step by step, published after review.

English profiles will be published individually once their scientific basis and English editorial version have been reviewed.

The German library is currently more extensive. The language is stated before each link so that visitors are not taken unexpectedly to German-only content.
